    • The text was on September 2nd. The Clinton investigation was closed July 6th. Wasn’t reopened until October. Unless you are saying this is a different thing, I’d say Fox might want to check the dates.

      • The FBI report on the investigation didn’t come out until later, and remember congress was still investigating Hillary too and demanding info and collected Private server email from the FBI.

        • That’s true. the release of that was September 2nd as well. So it is possible it was in regard to Releasing their report. The report has some redacted pieces with the FBI claiming only items of a personal nature were redacted.

Reporting in the The wall street Journal suggests those texts It were about Russian meddling though:

“Text messages from 2016 show preparation to brief Barack Obama about Russia’s interference in that year’s election, according to associates of the FBI employees involved in the exchange, not, as a Republican senator suggested, meddling by the then-president in the federal Hillary Clinton email investigation.”

But in fairness, that’s their side of the story.

          • In all fairness, the Russian meddling story had by then, gone beyond a hacking of DNC emails, into the subtext of Trump being a part of that “meddling”.

That Pres. Obama wanted to know everything about tan investigation that would soon have Carter Page being wiretapped (and thus all Trump campaign entities communicating with him) and that based upon the Steele document paid for my Hillary, is no great assurance that the president was only interested in rebuking Putin.

He could have done that without wanting all the details of an FBI investigation he denied monitoring.

My bet is that this was about HRC, but either scenario is exculpating as the Obama’s interest.

Imagine the media and Democrat response to an identical demand by Pres. Trump as to *ANY ongoing FBI investigation.

      • Obama made a blanket statement that he did not talk to FBI directors about pending investigations. He did not limit that to any particular investigation.

        • Respectfully, Russia wasn’t an investigation then. it was a counter intelligence operation. This was 3 days before obama confronted Putin about interference. So It makes sense he would want info on that.

          • If you want to be technical the FBI doesn’t engage in counter-intelligence operations. That would be the CIA. As Comey famously said, we’re not the Federal Bureau of Matters, we’re the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI role in counter-intelligence would not be to mount operations but to investigate, as their name makes clear. The Russia/Trump investigations were officially made public in March 2017. That’s not when they began, just when they were acknowledged. One thing is indisputable: if the FBI was involved, they were investigating, not mounting operations against Russia.

        • More than a blanket statement in an April 2016 interview on Fox News Sunday, then-President Obama said he “guaranteed” he was staying out of the FBI probe.

“I do not talk to the Attorney General about pending investigations,” Obama told Chris Wallace. “I do not talk to FBI directors about pending investigations. We have a strict line and always have maintained it –”

Asked to assure the American people the FBI probe into Hillary Clinton would be treated no differently than anyone else, Obama was emphatic: “I guarantee it. I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department or the FBI, not just in this case but in any case. Full stop. Period.”

Here’s a transcript of the exchange:

WALLACE: “Mr. President, when you say what you just said — what Josh Earnest said as he did, your spokesman, in January — ‘the information from the Justice Department is that she’s not a target,’ some people, I think, are worried whether or not the decision, whether or not how to handle the case, will be decided on political grounds, not legal grounds. Can you guarantee to the American people, can you direct the Justice Department to say, ‘Hillary Clinton will be treated as the evidence goes, she will not in any way be protected.'”
OBAMA: “I can guarantee that. I can guarantee that not because I give Attorney General Lynch a directive, that is institutionally how we have always operated. I do not talk to the Attorney General about pending investigations. I do not talk to FBI directors about pending investigations. We have a strict line and always have maintained it –”
WALLACE: “–So, just to button this up –”
OBAMA: “I guarantee it. I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department or the FBI, not just in this case but in any case. Full stop Period.”
WALLACE: “– And she will be treated no differently?–”
OBAMA: “Guaranteed, full stop, period. Nobody gets treated differently when it comes to the Justice Department because nobody is above the law.”
WALLACE: “Even if she ends up as the Democratic nominee?”
OBAMA: “How many times do I have to say it, Chris? Guaranteed.”

“As I scroll through the #Strzok trending topic, not one CNN or @washingtonpost article floats by. Where’s your big story?” – Rep. Steven Smith

    • Actually that would be a real disappointment as Nancy speaking lately is a train wreck. Repeatedly calls Trump Bush and fumbles over basic words/phrases. Honestly rather sad that she continues to serve as appears she is suffering from something age related. Time to retire.
