  1. Disney earnings after bell today. ESPN streaming will be live sports only in 18. CBS beat estimates solely w/ digital. Disney will stop selling movies to other services and expectation is current loss, they have really fallen behind as hulu and netflix offer a lot more flex on programming. DIS not streaming until 19. SELL they are geezers. will stratification of programing into streaming make cable look better again as a bundle? HA! they know everything about you …. heck you told them

      • not coming until 19. they are going to stop outsourcing to like netflix etc. but espn is not doing the “select from all our vault” deal and the question is how will DIS stream content. it has a huge vault and if it opens it all for a monthly price si, good income, but there is no platform for that at DIS or ESPN, it is why i mentioned CBS digital which was the cause of rev/earnings beat. without the ability to select content it is just just a tv channel, greatly diminishing sub val.

        • Makes you wonder why they didn’t resignup with Netflix for 2018? Maybe Netflix demanded long term?

          • no. netflix can’t demand anything. DIS is huge, all the streamers are pimples, truth is there are a dozen streaming platforms competing and and very few behemoths of top rated content. google the top grossing movies in the last ten years all DIS, but they suck at efficiency and maxing. they own ABC, ESPN, they have let Fox Sports set crazy rights prices they can never recover without better digital. they have had lots of time to do it right, seen no signs of it yet. i am saying short it. either one or 2 platforms will dominate eventually or we go back to cable/sat because of too much stratification of streaming. how many bills you want? y i watch the T red sigma line baby. big dogs need to be in it all until it sorts out.

          • it barely beat earnings so no holocaust but their growth sucks, they admit they need some rejigging of all 3 digital platforms. DIS, ABC, and ESPN.
trending down no matter what a day or week does, new experience for them.

        • The Netflix deal was the old Starz Deal where the movies would make their first TV appearance on Starz now Netflix before they hit basic channels like ABC,Freeform, Disney Channel/XD. I am hoping that a Disney stream service would do that plus older movies as well.

      • while on the stock thingy, the dump this week is not caused by NK. how do you know? look at rtns chart for the last month.

        RTN 177.70 -1.60 -0.89%

    • You know the scene in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil where Jim Wright and his hired spiritualist go to the graveyard in order to try and appease the spirit of Billy Hansen from taking revenge against Jim?

Megyn might be needing to consider that with Ailes.

  3. How can I call myself the ‘most trusted name in blog comments’? Same way I can call myself “Shirley”, but I jest.

  4. Good first run on #OutNumbered for Joe Concha.
Sandra Smith came off as completely humorless…..tough crowd.
Joe C. landed some good one-liners, but she was having none of it.

“I’ll never forget my second first time.”

  5. If progressives are convinced Trump is surrounded by fire and brimstone, what’s a little fire and fury?

  6. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance.
The daily Larry-Bella poll of whomever we see shows 44% of late night TV viewers think it sucks. Odd, no?

  7. Looks like Fox News Specialists ratings have stabilized at some point and #1 in it’s slot by some margin.

      • In the first three days of this week, the show averaged 1,779,000 total and 346,000 in the 25-54 demo.

In the first three days of last week, the show averaged 1,853,000 and 332,000.

So, ratings are about the same so far.

I’m not sure the show has ever not won its timeslot in total viewers. Maybe once or twice. They do occasionally finish second in the demo though.

The show does look like it is not doing nearly as well at The Five would do if it was still in the time slot.

Last July, The Five was 58% above the FNC total day average in total viewers and 23% above in the 25-54 demo. It was ranked 5th in all of news in total viewers and 8th in the demo.
This July, The Specialists was 26% above the FNC total day average in total viewers and 9% above in the 25-54 demo. It was ranked 9th in all of news in total viewers and 17th in the demo.

  8. FNC tried giving Laura Ingraham a show before which lasted like two weeks, so if they gave her a show it would have to do better than that. I do like the idea #2 in that piece though where we have The Story at 9 et to be a buffer between the two opinion shows and putting the five back at well 5.

    • Might have lasted shorter than expected and likely could have become permanent if it was a hit, but it was supposed to be temporary when it was announced. Not sure they even promoted it much.

Looking back at the ratings from then, her show did not do well. Though, it was a different time back then. That time slot (5:00) didn’t do that well even with other programming.
That next year, Beck’s show started and things changed.

Not sure how having Laura and Tucker back-to-back would work when the shows would be pretty similar. Also, Fox would not have three shows in DC in a row.

Moving a different show to 9:00 looks like it would be a tough spot because of having to go against Maddow, but 5:00 would benefit more from having The Five back than 9:00 would be hurt by a new show. The Five averaged more total viewers last July at 5:00 than they did this July at 9:00.

The Five is usually finishing third out of the Fox primetime lineup each night. So, they aren’t helping the other shows. Another show in that slot would probably do about the same.

      • I was kind of mad it along with AEHQ for “The Big Story” not returning , then they announced Beck’s show in November of that year.

      • Wasn’t it just last year that Laura couldn’t hear anything thru her headset and started dropping f-bombs on the air asking her producer what the f- was going on? That kinda thing is going to make any network think twice about having her on the air permanently.

  9. I feel so bad for how hard Megyn is having to work — private jet and a support staff of 5 to 6 people to take care of her every need while on the road. How will she survive the workload?

“She’s working sunup to sundown every day — some days, two cities a
day,” an NBC insider said, and shooting multiple promos and pieces for
    the new show.

  11. Mark Steyn’s interview with the “notably white guy” from Minnesota (on Tucker’s show) was epic.
