  1. Chag Purim Sameach!

Yeah, well, Grandpa Kelly married a Polish Jew named Delinski. I can eat bacon but have to feel guilty about it.

    • Terrorists killed some people in Brussels, folks. That’s not “existential” to American life…

      He’s such a jerk.

    • Ramos didn’t “trounce” either O’Reilly or Hannity, Mike.

Wemple uses words like “trounce” and “school” because he hopes that sort of bluster and outrage substitutes for reason,

It’s not specious to argue that Trump did not mean that every illegal crossing the border is a criminal. “Well, I’m just telling you what he said…” is a bit of literalism that is tendacious and cynical, rather than the realistic assumption of Trump remarks being that.

Wemple also disappears a lot if things that we know to be true. Things about having to do with the lawlessness in Mexico, with gangs and cartels that corrupt law enforcement and threatened the lives of media and govt officials who speak out.

We can blame all that on the U.S. and we’re still left with a govt in Mexico that has facilitated this culture.

There are reports that much as 80% percent of the women, Mexicans and Central Americans, are raped as they travel through Mexico to the border.

Trump is not a subtle guy, to say the least….but it’s people like Wemple and Ramos who dictatorially will not allow duscussion on this topic outside of such of tight and arbitrary parameters that force their contrarians to jump hurdles and tie themselves into knots in order to fend off personal attacks.

O’Reilly and Hannity are both opinion hosts so there’s no use in Wemple using Megyn Kelly as an example of how they should treat the subject matter. The irony is that Wemple sure as hell hasn’t demanded that of journalist Ramos.

      Quite the contrary.

  2. So sorry to hear about Garry Shandling. A joke of his that has been oft repeated at my place is one of Garry’s character complaining about the price of a mansion he was touring. When the agent hailed the great views, Garry said, “For that price I should open the curtains and see breasts”.

  4. if you have not read the Camille Paglia trump hillary screed try it she writes well. funny, she an i disagree on every single thing except once small minute item. we both agree the election is hopeless.

    • I love her! I’m glad she’s back at Salon.

She was there when Salon started. Salon used to be an interesting place with well written offerings.

      Now it’s abject crap.

    • Last July she wrote on Salon, “Ted Cruz–oh, lord! Cruz gives me the willies. The guy is a fanatic! He’s very smart, clever and strategic, and he has a fine education from Princeton, so people have to watch out for him. But I think he is self-absorbed and narcissistic to a maniacal degree.”

If the ‘rumors’ currently circulating on Twitter based on a National Enquirer article about Ted Cruz turn out to be true, then Ms. Paglia deserves a cookie for her possibly somewhat prescient view back then.

      • What rumors? We’ve got two candidates sniping at each other like Pekingese dogs.

We’ve reached a new frontier in campaigning. Used to political strategists could get the same thing by hiring lowlife to troll blogs and social media.

Now the candidates do it themselves and cut out the middleman.
